Injection Pump for Mercedes-Benz
An
injection pump is a device that is used to pump fuel into the cylinders of a
diesel engine. The injection pump works indirectly from the crankshaft by
gears, chains, or a toothed belt that also drives the camshaft. Injection pumps
rotates at half crankshaft speed in a conventional four-stroke diesel engine.
How
do injection pumps work?
The
mechanical system of the fuel injection pump is accurately metered and
pressurized by the fuel injection pump, then passed to the high-pressure
injectors via pipes before being sprayed into the combustion chamber, where it
ignites. The resulting combustion gases then drive the piston down to produce
the power stroke.
The OM603 injection pump
comes with six rebuilt fuel injectors per 1987 OM603 turbodiesel engines, and
upgradeable, reusable heat shields will also be included. 603 injection pumps
are the devices that pump fuel into the cylinders of diesel engines. The
injection pump is indirectly driven from the crankshaft by gears, chains, or a
toothed belt that also drives the camshaft.
